At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work on one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. We are a team of approximately 6,000 people, and we have an exceptionally important job!
We are looking for Decision Makers for Reception Unit 1 in Uppsala. With us, you will work on current societal issues influenced by events in our environment. Issues that matter and engage. What does a Decision Maker do?
As a Decision Maker, you support and develop your colleagues in legal application, substantive issues, and investigation methodology. You identify and analyze areas for development and propose improvements. On behalf of the unit, you acquire and maintain knowledge while monitoring standards, guidelines, and case law.
You process, investigate, and decide on cases based on laws and regulations. The decisions you make have legal consequences for individuals and affect their rights to benefits, entitlements, and obligations. You handle appeals and follow up on cases during hearings to ensure high legal quality. Your tasks include making confidentiality assessments before releasing information and administering files and documents in cases. You also work to guide and provide service to individuals with cases at the Migration Agency and other stakeholders with various inquiries.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who has a good understanding of how people acquire knowledge and the varying circumstances of individuals. You are accustomed to making decisions and seeing the big picture from your role and the organization's perspective. You are skilled at planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work. Furthermore, you have good collaboration skills, are attentive, and resolve conflicts constructively. You take responsibility for your tasks and structure your work independently.
In our work as civil servants, there are also high demands on judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness.
You should have
- Academic education of at least 120 credits with a focus on law, social sciences, or behavioral sciences, or other education combined with relevant experience for the role.
- Several years of current experience in handling qualified administrative law cases.
- Current experience in case handling according to applicable legislation.
- Good knowledge of the Administrative Procedure Act and the Aliens Act.
- Good communication skills and express yourself well verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.
It is an advantage if you have
- Experience in conveying knowledge regarding legal application.
- Experience working in the public sector.
- Experience in handling immigration cases.
- Experience with a coaching approach.

Employment type: Permanent with an initial probationary period.
Working hours: Office hours.
Location: Uppsala.
Start date: As soon as possible.
